Privacy Policy
September 15, 2007
This page describes how Digital Support treats personal information when you use Digital Support’s software and services, including the Digital Support Local Service.
Information we collect
The Digital Support Local Service uses operating system calls to find which application and system software components you have installed on your computer, and may read the configuration settings and file statistics (size, timestamp) for each of these software components. The exact settings and statistics collected depend on the known support recommendations associated with the software components.
The Digital Support Local Service saves the list of installed software components, settings, and file statistics on your computer’s disk, and then securely transmits all this information to the Digital Support server. In no case will Digital Support collect or transmit user passwords, application documents, or other user-specific content to our server.
In addition, each time you apply a recommendation or undo a previously-applied recommendation, this action is recorded on your local disk as well as on the Digital Support server.
Identification
Your copy of the Digital Support Local Service includes a unique activation number that the service passes to our server in all communications. The Local Service also sends its software version number to the server automatically when checking for updates to itself.
You may choose to associate or not to associate personal or billing information with your activation number. If you choose not to have this association then you may need to re-enter billing information whenever you make a support service payment.
Cookies
When you visit the Digital Support web site, we may send one or more cookies to your computer that identifies your browser. We use cookies to improve your experience using our service to manage state across several requests in the same session, and we may use cookies to prevent third-party web pages from inappropriately accessing the Local Service.
Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies, but also allow you to refuse all cookies or to indicate that a cookie is sent to the server. If you disable cookies, however, some Digital Support features and services will not function properly.
Uninstalling the Local Service
You can uninstall the Digital Support Local Service through the Start menu at any time. Uninstalling the software automatically removes the list of software, settings, file statistics, and history of applied recommendations from your local disk. However, this information may continue to be stored on our server.
Changes to this policy
Please note that this Privacy Policy may change from time to time. We will not reduce your rights under this Policy without your explicit consent, and we expect most such changes will be minor. Regardless, we will post any Policy changes on this page.
