You receive an error message when you try to install the 2007 Microsoft Office servers Service Pack 1 on a computer that does not have Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Service Pack 1 installed
SYMPTOMS
When you try to install the 2007 Microsoft Office servers Service Pack 1 (SP1) on a computer that does not have Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 SP1 installed, you receive the following error message:Note If you click Yes, you are directed to the Microsoft Download Center Web site to download Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 SP1. If you click No, the installation exits, and the 2007 Microsoft Office servers Service Pack 1 (SP1) is not installed.
Windows SharePoint® Services 3.0 Service Pack 1 is not installed. Microsoft strongly recommends that you install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Service Pack 1 before installing this update. RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, we recommend that you install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 SP1 before you install the 2007 Microsoft Office servers Service Pack 1 (SP1). Windows SharePoint Services provides base functionality and services that are widely used by the 2007 Office System Server products. Therefore, we recommend that you install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 SP1 on all the 2007 Office System Server product installations to make sure that they have optimal performance, the latest security features, and the latest functional updates. Both service packs are required for Windows Server 2008.
WORKAROUND
To install the 2007 Microsoft Office servers Service Pack 1 (SP1) without installing Windows SharePoint Server 3.0 SP1, follow these steps:
- At a command prompt, change to the folder that contains the 2007 Microsoft Office servers Service Pack 1 (SP1) Setup file.
- At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: officeserver2007sp1-kb936984-x86-fullfile-en-us.exe /InstallWithoutWSSSP1=1Note Make sure that you type the InstallWithoutWSSSP1=1 option exactly as shown in the command.
- After you successfully install the service pack, close the command prompt.
