Links 99 Error Message: The Client Is Not Playing the Same Course as the Host

This article was previously published under Q237002

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to play a network round between two computers in Microsoft Links LS 1999 Edition, you may receive an error message stating that the client is not playing the same course as the host, even if both the host and the client have selected the same course.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the course selected by the host is a course designed for Links LS 99, and the course selected by the client is a converted Links 386 course, or vice versa.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, both the host and the client must select the same course; either the Links LS 99 course of the same name or the converted Links 386 course of the same name.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

The characters "LS" are appended to the names of all converted Links 386 courses to distinguish them from Links LS 99 courses of the same name.
