How Connectix Virtual PC Guest PCs Work with CD-ROM Drives, DVD-ROM Drives, and Disk Image Files

SUMMARY

This article discusses how your Virtual PC guest PCs work with CD-ROM drives, DVD-ROM drives, and CD-ROM images (*.iso files) on your host PC.

MORE INFORMATION

When you insert a disc in a CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive on your host PC, the guest PC that is running on the host PC automatically captures the disc. You can also capture a disc or disk image file (*.iso) manually. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, click Connectix Virtual PC.
  2. Click the guest PC that you want to capture the disk or image on, and then click the Start Up button.
  3. Click CD on the menu bar, and then do one of the following:
    • Click Capture Host Drive D:, where D is the letter of the CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive that you want to capture.
    • Click Capture Image, and then find the .iso disk image file that you want to capture.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Click Eject Host Drive to eject the disc from your host PC's CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive.
    • Click Release ImageFile.iso, where ImageFile.iso is the name of the image file that you want to release, to release a disk image file.
Note The CD-ROM automatic play function will not work on your host PC when a guest PC is running.
