You Cannot Install Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP Screen Savers, Games, and Visualizations in Virtual PC for Windows

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP on your Microsoft Windows XP Virtual PC, you may receive the following message:
Some of the features in Microsoft Plus! for windows XP require a video adapter with at least 16 megabytes of video memory. The video adapter for your computer's primary monitor does not have enough video memory to run these features.

If you continue setup, the digital media features, Russian Square Plus! Edition, and themes will be installed. The Labyrinth Plus! Edition, HyperBowl Plus! Edition, screen savers, and visualizations will not be installed.

Review the minimum system requirements and instructions for testing your video adapter's memory in the Readme for Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP.

Do you want to continue setup for Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP?

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP requires a video adapter that has 3-D graphics acceleration and a minimum of 16 MB of video RAM. Virtual PC does not support 3-D acceleration and provides only 4 MB of video RAM.
