Cannot Connect a Hard Disk Image to a Virtual Machine

SYMPTOMS

When you try to connect a hard disk image to a virtual machine, the image does not connect. Additionally, you do not receive an error message when this behavior occurs.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the hard disk image has been locked.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem you must unlock the hard disk image. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Locate the hard disk image that you want to unlock.
  2. Click the hard disk image icon.
  3. On the File menu, click Get info.
  4. Click to clear the Locked check box.
