When you import data into a Groove Forms tool from a CSV file, invalid values change when you open the records.

SYMPTOMS

When you import data from a comma separated values (CSV) file into a form by using the Groove Forms tool, the data you expect appears in the list view. However, when you open the imported records, certain fields may display different values.

Some field types in the Forms tool can be restricted to certain values. For example, a Drop-down List field may only accept values created in the design. You can import a file which contains invalid values. However, invalid values are discarded when the record is opened.

For example, if you have a Priority field with the values 1, 2, and 3, and you import a CSV file that has a value A for that field, you will initially see the A in the view. If you then open that record, the A is replaced by the default field value.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, perform one of the following actions before opening the record:
  • In the properties of the field, modify Options to add the values present in the CSV file to the values for the field.
  • In the properties of the field, modify User Defined Values to enable Allow users to add their own custom values to the list.
Note To use these workarounds, you must be able to use the Designer. This requires that your role have Designer Access in the tool. In Groove Virtual Office 3.1 and earlier versions of Groove, you must also use a Groove edition that enables you to modify forms.
