CD-ROM: Readiness Review Assessment question marks correct answer as incorrect

In the Readiness Review Assessment, one of the questions reads:

"You run your own business as a desktop support technician. You are installing Microsoft Windows XP Professional on a new computer for Chris Cannon, a home-based business owner. Whenever critical errors arise, Chris wants the computer to automatically reboot to prevent further damage to the operating system.

In the graphic exhibit below, click the button that allows you to meet Chris' needs."

When the question is scored, it indicated that the second "Settings" button is the correct answer.

It should indicate that the third "Settings" button is correct.

CD-ROM: Assessment answer is incorrect

In the Readiness Review Assessment, one of the questions reads:

"You run your own business as a desktop support technician. Francois Ajenstat calls you because she wants her Microsoft Windows XP Home desktop to be displayed in French. However, because she shares the computer with her sister, she also wants to be able to easily switch between French and English."

What should you tell Francois?"

The correct answer is given as:

"Install the Windows XP Multilingual User Interface (MUI) Pack."

This is incorrect as you cannot install the MUI pack on Windows XP Home.

The correct answer should be:

"Upgrade to Microsoft Windows XP Professional and install the Windows XP Multilingual User Interface (MUI) Pack."

CD-ROM: Readiness Review Assessment answer is incorrect

In the Readiness Review Assessment, one of the questions reads:

"You are a desktop support technician for an Internet Service Provider. Today a customer calls with the following question:

"I was charged over $300 in Internet fees last month! I sometimes forget that my computer is on and still connected to the Internet. It might be on the whole night sometimes. I'm not the only person who uses it, so I don't always know if people turn it off when they're not using it. The only time I ever need to be on the Internet for longer than 30 minutes is if I am downloading files from my company's FTP site. Some of those files are large. What can you do to help me before I cancel my service?"

From the list on the right, select the instructions that you should give to the customer to help lower her Internet connectivity fees. Place your selections in the list on the left in the order in which the customer should carry out the instructions. The answer is given as:

The answer should be:

CD-ROM: Incorrect image used in practice test question

In the Readiness Review Assessment, one of the questions begins:

"You are a desktop support technician for a large travel agency. Recently, you deployed Service Pack 2 to the 200 Windows XP Professional computers in your organization, including your own computer, using default settings."

The image used to answer the question is incorrect, and the question should be disregarded.

CD-ROM: Readiness Review answer explanation partially incorrect

In the Readiness Review Assessment, one of the questions begins:

"You are a desktop support technician for a help desk. Michael Alexander is an entry level systems administrator who works at a small accounting firm. Joseph, one of the accountants, wants Michael to add more disk space to his computer, which runs Microsoft Windows XP Professional."

One of the answer explanations contains an incorrect sentence.

Change:
"Michael should not create a striped volume. A striped volume provides fault tolderance. All physical disks in a striped volume must be available for data access. This is because data is written to all disks in the striped set. However, in this scenario, the failure of one disk should not prevent Michael from using the other disk."

To:
"Michael should not create a striped volume. A striped volume does not provide fault tolderance. All physical disks in a striped volume must be available for data access. This is because data is written to all disks in the striped set. However, in this scenario, the failure of one disk should not prevent Michael from using the other disk."

Page 5-7: "archived flag is removed" should be "archive flag is added"

On page 5-7, the last sentence of the "Ready For Archiving" bullet point is incorrect.

Change:
"If the resource changes in any way, the archived flag is removed."

To:
"If the resource changes in any way, the archive flag is added."

Page 5-10: read-only should be read only

On page 5-10, the second sentence of the Supporting File Encryption sentence contains an uneeded hyphen.

Change:
"The files can be read-only when you log on to the computer by using your user account and password."

To:
"The files can be read only when you log on to the computer by using your user account and password."

Page 5-45: Incorrect information regarding share folder name length

On page 5-45, the first sentence contains incorrect information regarding the maximum share name length for Windows NT.

Change:
"Computers running Microsoft Windows NT, Microsoft Windows 2000, and Windows XP can recognize 80-character share names; Windows 95 and Windows 98 can recognize 12-character share names; and previous versions of Windows and MS-DOS can recognize only share names that follow the 8.3 naming convention."

To:
"Computers running Microsoft Windows 2000, and Windows XP can recognize 80-character share names; Microsoft Windows NT, Windows 95 and Windows 98 can recognize 12-character share names; and previous versions of Windows and MS-DOS can recognize only share names that follow the 8.3 naming convention."

Page 7-24: Incorrect illustration in Figure 7-10

On page 7-24, in the first paragraph, it states:

"On the Power Schemes tab of the Power Options Properties dialog box, shown in Figure 7-10,"

But Figure 7-10 shows modem properties, not the Power Schemes tab. Please disregard Figure 7-10.

Page 10-5: Class A should be Class C

On page 10-5, under "Class C addresses",

Change:
"leaving 2,097,150 potential Class A networks"

To:
"leaving 2,097,150 potential Class C networks"

Page 10-5: 193 should be 192

On page 10-5, the first sentence of the "Class C addresses" section contains incorrect information.

Change:
"If the first octet of an IP address is between 193 and 223, it is a Class C address."

To:
"If the first octet of an IP address is between 192 and 223, it is a Class C address."

Page 11-37: Answer missing for Question 2 of Lesson 1

On page 11-37, no answer is printed for Question 2 of Lesson 1.

The correct answer is B.

Page 12-9: Figure for managing virtual memory incorrect

On page 12-9, Figure 12-3: "Use the Virtual Memory dialog box to control the paging file" is incorrect and should be ignored.

Page 12-31: Incorrect answer given for question 1 of lesson 2

On page 12-31, the answer to question 1 of Lesson 2 reads:

"The correct answers are A and C. Task Manager shows current information on CPU and memory usage. Answers B and D are not correct because you must use the Performance tool to monitor these values."

It should read:

"The correct answers are A, C, and D. Task Manager shows current information on CPU, paging file, and memory usage. Answer B is not correct because you must use the Performance tool to monitor this value."
