You may experience network-related problems after you install Windows Server 2003 SP2 on a computer that has Whale Communications IAG 3.6 or IAG 2007 installed

Consider the following scenario. You have a computer that has Whale Communications Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG) 3.6 or Intelligent Application Gateway 2007 installed. Then, you install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2). In this scenario, you may experience network-related problems.

This issue may occur because of a Network Address Translation (NAT) problem in Windows Server 2003. This problem is exposed when the following conditions are true:

• You have a network adapter that meets the Network Driver Interface Specification (NDIS) 5.2 specification or a later version of this specification.
• On this network adapter, you enable one of the following features:
  • Receive Side Scaling (RSS)
  • TCP/IP offloading

Note After you install Windows Server 2003 SP2, these features are automatically enabled.

To resolve this issue, apply the settings that are specified in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

Depending on your OEM and on which IAG 2007 image that the server is using, Windows Server 2003 SP2 may be packaged with your installation of IAG 2007. In this situation, you should not experience the problem that is described in the "Symptoms" section. If you are not sure about whether Windows Server 2003 SP2 was packaged with your installation of IAG, contact your OEM or your reseller for more information about the image that you have installed.

Note If you are using IAG 3.6, the default image does not have Windows Server 2003 SP2 preinstalled.
