SP 54003: Media information is not displayed or updated when you insert a disc into the CD/DVD drive
Symptom: Whenever you change or insert media in the CD/DVD drive, information about the media is not displayed or updated in “My Computer => Devices with Removable Storage”. Also, when attempting to write data to a CD/DVD, the following error message may be displayed when a blank disk has been inserted into the CD/DVD drive.
Error Message: “There is no disc in the drive. Please insert a writable CD into drive.”
Possible Cause: The “Auto Run” feature has been disabled for the CD/DVD drives.
Resolution: This support procedure will examine the current CD/DVD drive settings in the system registry and modify the settings to enable the “Auto Run” feature for the CD/DVD drives.
Additional Information: The “Auto Run” feature determines whether the system sends a message to the Windows interface whenever a CD/DVD media change has occurred. Enabling the “Auto Run” feature will ensure that the information about the CD/DVD media will be updated in “My Computer => Devices with Removable Storage”.
