SP 51946: Disable “Dead Gateway Detection” in Windows
Symptom: When the default gateway fails, an alternate gateway is used for making TCP connections. The possibility of a denial of service attack may prevent you from accessing certain internet web sites.
Resolution: Modify the system registry settings to disable “Dead Gateway Detection” in Windows.
Additional Information: Dead Gateway Detection allows Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) to detect failure of the default gateway and to adjust the Internet Protocol (IP) routing table to use another default gateway.
