SP 52557: Enable the “Telephony” service in Windows

Symptom: When you start the Services applet in “Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools”, the “Startup Type” setting for the “Telephony” service will be set to “Disabled”.
Resolution: Modify the system registry settings to enable “Manual” startup for the “Telephony” service.
Additional Information: The “Telephony” service provides Telephony API (TAPI) support for programs that control telephony devices and IP based voice connections on the local computer and, through the LAN, on servers that are also running the service. It basically controls all dialup activity and in some cases DSL/Cable activity.
