SP 50449: Cannot “Add New Programs” on your computer

Symptom: When you start the “Control Panel => Add or Remove Programs” applet, you will notice that the “Add New Programs” icon is missing from the left column of the “Add or Remove Programs” applet window. This condition will prevent you from adding new programs on your computer.
Resolution: This change will examine the system registry and modify the settings to restore the “Add New Programs” icon in the “Add or Remove Programs” applet.
