SP 53483: Enable Visual Style changes in Windows

Symptom: When you navigate to “Start -> Control Panel -> Display” and change the Visual Style in the “Windows and buttons” menu under the “Appearance” tab in the “Display Properties” dialog, you will notice that your change was not saved when you log out and log back in. You will find that the Visual Style reverted back to the default Windows XP style.
Resolution: Modify the system registry settings to enable changes to the Visual Style in Windows.
